Unpaid wages in Texas

Disputes may often arise as to unpaid wages owed to an employee by his/her employer. This could be the following scenarios:

  • The final paycheck after employment ends, perhaps covering the last week or two of work.
  • Unpaid accrued vacation/PTO pay after employment ends, as required by company policy.
  • A dispute on commissions or bonuses owed that are part of an objective, non-discretionary calculation.
  • Miscalculating the hourly rate of pay (separate from calculating overtime pay).

A simple, easy, and free solution could be filing a wage claim with the Texas Workforce Commission (click here). While hiring an attorney to file a lawsuit may be an option, Mr. Sud takes very few of these cases and only if certain conditions are met.
